So familiar are Illinoisans with Mother Nature’s whims that the Skokie Park District Board of Commissioners, serving a suburb 10 minutes north of Chicago, had passed a resolution on Nov. 20, 2013 in support of Typhoon Yolanda survivors. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the community is 21.3% Asian, with Filipino Americans making up 5.3%, second only to South Asians that make up 6.2%.

Part of the resolution was to post a link on the park district Web site for visitors to donate directly to the American Red Cross Typhoon Appeal.

If you are an artist, a business owner, or member of a group, and would like to donate some of your work to a good cause, consider contributing to our Jan. 25 fundraiser: Please read and fill out the form below.
