Before I launch into another year of writeups, I’d like to wish you and yours a happy new year!

I had only been writing this column for a couple of years, and I am glad it is actually gaining a readership.

Here’s a glass of sparkling grape juice. Cheers to a happy 2014!

New visions

I never thought I’d start the new year with another fundraiser on hand, though.

And yet, this truly isn’t “just another fundraiser.”

While most fundraisers this November raise funds enough to donate to a particular organization that targets a specific need, a new organization seeks to establish a more lasting, sustainable method to helping rebuild lives lost to natural calamities in the Philippines.

That is the goal, anyway. The target that the new Illinois Philippine Recovery Operations (ILPRO) hope to achieve in the next year.

And personally, my greatest organizing conundrum.
