An all-volunteer effort

The Illinois Philippine Recovery Operations are a series of fundraisers to support medical and relief missions to Samar, Leyte and Palawan, Philippines benefitting survivors of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

The first of these is on Saturday, Jan. 25 to finance two medical missions to Tacloban City, Leyte and Paluan City, Occidental Mindoro. Proceeds will also benefit cities along the typhoon’s path, including Coron, Palawan and Eastern Samar.

We look forward to your joining us on the 25th at the Copernicus Theater Annex! This fundraiser is modelled after the Sendong All Our Love event that benefitted the De LaSalle Academy of Illigan City. The Academy coordinated relief efforts for survivors of Typhoon Sendong (Washi) that hit southern Philippines on December, 2011. Details of that fundraiser are online here.

The events are organized by volunteers with the Philippine American Cultural Foundation, Filipino folk fusion band Samasama Project, Girlie Pascual, James DelaCruz and a group of clear-eyed idealists.
